Our Words Can Bring Blessings Or Curses

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21 KJV

In the book of Genesis is where we see that God speaks things into existence. Some of the things that he spoke into existence were heaven, earth, every living creature, sun, and moon. Genesis also explains how mankind was made in God’s image and likeness (Genesis 1:1-31). God has also spoken death in the Bible. In the book of Exodus; He spoke death to the Egyptians who would not let His people go (Exodus 11:4-7). We are not God, but we can do some of the same things that God can do and that is speak life or speak death. King David is an example of someone who spoke premature death into his bloodline (2 Samuel 12) and Ezekiel is an example of someone who spoke life into dry bones (Ezekiel 37).

How many times have you used your tongue to speak negatively into your life or someone else’s life? How many times were you aware of what you were doing? How many times have you done it and was not even aware that the words you were speaking were cutting into someone’s soul? When you are in an argument and you say something that you know will hurt the person you are talking to. Like telling your spouse that they are not as loving to you as John is to his wife. Or do you idly say something negative to your child? I love you, but I do not like you right now. Do you know that words like that can create an inner vow? It can also open up a spiritual door that gives legal right for chaos to come in your life or the person that you spoke negative words to.

An inner vow occurs when we make a declaration. When our emotions are fluctuating, we tend to say things without thinking about the consequences of our words. We will say something carelessly that will bring destruction to ourselves or others. We can speak death or life in our minds or vocally. Words like; I will never have children. I will never get married again. I will never be healed from this disease. I will never get out of debt. I will never be like my mother/father. Those words are vows. Those words are curses. You can make an unrighteous agreement with yourself and with another person. It may not come to pass until many years later when something will trigger your words that you previously spoke whether it be vocally or in your mind. Unless you loose those words that you spoke or thought. You will be bound to those words that you spoke. The Bible says, whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven (Matthew 16:19).

In my upcoming Apple Podcast episode. I will be going more in-depth about death and life are in the power of the tongue. I will also be discussing ways that you can loose yourself from words of death that you spoke into your life or someone else’s life.
