The STAR Method

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” – Joshua 1:8 KJV

I have so many resources, that I do not remember where all of them have come from. I would like to source where I got this particular STAR Method from, but I cannot remember where I got it from. If someone who reads this knows please put in the comments who originated this method. I wanted to share it for those who want to learn different ways to meditate on the Word of God. Be Blessed!

1. Scripture: Pray and ask God to lead you to the passage and scripture He wants to use to communicate with you.

2. Think: Read and write out the scripture in your journal. Think deeply about it; turn it over in your mind several times. Consider each word and look up the meaning of any words that are unfamiliar to you. This will highlight the richness of the text.

3. Apply: Ask yourself some thought provoking questions, such as: Why did God lead me to this scripture? Is God pointing out a specific character flaw? What sins have I not confessed? Is God encouraging me? Is God telling me to trust Him & not be afraid? Is God promising me something or reminding me of one of His promises. Journal what the passage is saying to you and then write out a plan for applying it to your life.

4. Repeat: We learn by repetition. Continue practicing biblical meditation using the STAR Method, while in the waiting room, until it becomes second nature.
