Your Life Is A Garden

Imagine your life is like a beautiful garden. Now, let’s think of marriage as a delicate rose bush planted within this garden. When the garden is well-tended, the roses bloom magnificently, exuding beauty and fragrance. However, sometimes, harmful roots from weeds—representing the negative patterns and issues in our family histories—begin to snake their way unnoticed beneath the soil. Over time, they can strangle and starve the rose bush, ultimately impacting its health and causing it to wilt, analogous to the way unresolved issues can lead to separation or divorce.

Dr. Reva teaches us that to restore our garden, we must do more than simply snip at the visible weeds of current struggles. We need to dig deep into the soil of our lives and extract these menacing roots completely, much like understanding and addressing the deep-seated issues that affect marriages. Just as important as removal is the planting of new, healthy seeds—representing positive mindsets and biblically aligned perspectives on marriage. These seeds need to be nurtured with care, love, and spiritual insight to grow into strong, resilient plants that can resist the invasion of harmful roots in the future.

As we turn the soil and plant these new, vibrant seeds, let’s imagine that each seed is a scripture or a lesson learned, like mindfulness that marriage is sacred and a covenant not to be broken. We protect and nurture these seeds by surrounding ourselves with supportive, like-minded individuals who honor marital sanctity and by practicing actions that align with our values, much like watering our newly planted seeds and ensuring they have the light they require.

With patience and faithfulness, a once troubled garden can return to life, abundant with flowers and beauty, where harmful weeds have no place to take root. As Dr. Reva guides us through watering and monitoring our garden, we eagerly anticipate the final day when we can marvel at the flourishing, bountiful harvest—a metaphor for a relationship that is not only restored but thrives in God’s love and wisdom.
