Why I Do What I Do

Today, I want to share a story about why I chose to become a Christian life coach and the impact it has had on my life. Back in 2019, I began my journey as a Christian life coach, and I’ve been blessed to work with some incredible clients. However, one client, in particular, left a profound and lasting impression on me: Gemma Felix.

I was introduced to Gemma in 2021 by my business coach at the time, Janice. She mentioned a family friend who could really benefit from having a Christian life coach during a challenging period in her life. After receiving Gemma’s contact information, I reached out, and from our very first Zoom call, I had no idea how significant our journey together would become—not just for her, but for me as well.

I worked with Gemma from 2021 until her passing in 2023, following a battle with cancer. Throughout our time together, I felt led by God to offer my coaching without charge, even though I typically get paid for my services. It was only a few months before her death that Gemma felt compelled to sow into my business and ministry. Initially, I wanted to decline her offer, but God encouraged me to accept it. I didn’t realize then how close she was to the end of her life.

Gemma came to me during a very dark time. She had been re-diagnosed with cancer, which had spread to her lungs after initially surviving breast cancer. Our journey together was filled with ups and downs—times when she felt hopeful and times when she felt lost. But in the last five to six months of her life, I witnessed a remarkable transformation. The darkness that once enveloped her began to lift, and a beautiful light shone through her.
When we first started working together, Gemma was uncomfortable when I told her I loved her at the end of our sessions. She also hesitated to pray aloud. But as time went on, something changed. She began to express her love in return, and even volunteered to lead our closing prayers. There were moments when Gemma, in her newfound strength and faith, took on the role of coach, while I became the learner.

Reflecting on our time together, I see how the light of Jesus gradually covered and embraced her, driving away the darkness. It was clear that God had been guiding not only Gemma’s steps but mine as well. This experience taught me that being a Christian life coach is not just about helping others grow; it’s also about growing myself. It’s about bringing honor and glory to God, which is the ultimate reason why I do what I do.
